Experience

Talya has many years’ experience working in community mental health.

Talya works with all age groups, including children, adolescents, emerging adults, new parents, those in the more middle ages, and people in later life. She is passionate about listening closely to her client so she and the client can work together towards the outcome that the client wants to achieve.

Talya is interested in assisting people who struggle with depression and anxiety – That might or might not be linked to trauma in the client’s history. Together with the client, Talya seeks to discover ways that the client can improve their ability to cope as well as enjoy their lives again or even for the first time.

In relation to children, Talya works cooperatively with parents where appropriate to coach them so that the family can live more harmoniously.

Approach

Talya is warm, caring and compassionate. She is passionate about assisting people face their difficulties so they can ultimately improve their lives and relationships.

Talya has a particular interest in using Internal Family Systems which believes that all people’s personalities are made up of different parts. In this model, all people have and are born with a wise inner part, always believing that the client, with some help, can make discoveries that will improve their sense of well-being. Talya guides clients through this approach.

She also uses Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, client centred therapy  and CBT. She is also trained in EMDR. Talya likes the client to leave each session feeling they have gained some new understanding and learned some helpful strategies.

In regards to children, Talya will use some classic interventions such as art and play to slowly get to know what might be at the bottom of the child’s distress or anxiety.
