Experience
Angela’s experience spans over 20 years in the health and community sectors. She has held a range of positions providing counselling and support with adults, youth, children and families experiencing a range of issues and concerns regarding relationships and attachment, parenting, mental health, trauma and abuse, grief, loss and bereavement and palliative care. Alongside her work in the health and community services sectors, she has maintained a private practice for 10 years. She also has experience as an adult educator in areas of counselling, mental health and bereavement.
Approach
Angela believes that we all have the capacity to heal from emotional and psychological distress or trauma and that a therapeutic relationship can facilitate this process. Her warm and empathic style builds rapport and helps to create a safe space where you feel heard, acknowledged and supported to reflect on and work through the issues or challenges you are experiencing, gaining clarity and insight for personal change. Angela will work with you to tailored therapy to your individual needs and circumstances.
She draws from a range of evidence based interventions and techniques including Person Centred Counselling, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Strengths Based and Narrative Approaches, Gestalt, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Child Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) and Sandtray Therapy.
