Experience
Mary is a Counsellor who has worked in the field of community mental health for a number of years. She has worked with young people and adults experiencing a range of mental health challenges including Depression, Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Bipolar Disorder, substance issues, attachment injuries and relationship difficulties. More recently, she has been working with youth at risk, providing counselling and case management services to young people and their families. She has also developed and run psychoeducational groups around mental health and wellbeing and has facilitated anxiety support groups.
Approach
Mary offers a warm, compassionate and empathetic approach to counselling and is focussed on creating a space in which individuals can feel safe and comfortable to explore. She is passionate about providing high quality therapeutic services that are individually tailored to meet each person’s needs and goals. Mary acknowledges that not one size fits all and is flexible in the approach that she takes. She draws upon a number of evidence-based interventions including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), EMDR, Schema Therapy and Family Systems.
