Experience
Stuart is a Mental Health Social worker and has worked in the industry for a number of years. Stuart has delivered crisis telephone counselling and supported clients in a number of different roles. This work has further developed Stuart’s skills in working with trauma and difficult periods of depression and anxiety. Stuart has also worked with clients in the LGBTI community and has a passion for supporting clients who experience homophobia, difficulties with coming out or have anxiety or depressive symptoms.
Approach
Stuart is fully aware of the many areas mental health issues and stress impacts a person’s life. This means it is important to recognize this in session and understand the positive and negative ways clients cope. Stuart wants to give you techniques and tools to use to support you through difficult days. Therapy isn’t just about talking, its also about real action and delving into the issues that are really important for you to address. To Stuart, being a good counsellor is about first listening and understanding, working with clients and their goals.
Every person is different and so this means the therapy needs to be unique to you. Stuart is open and honest in his style of working and focuses on the true underlying emotions that are coming up for a client. Stuart is able to provide medicare rebated sessions when you organise a mental health plan and referral from your GP.
