NDIS Counselling at Safe Place Therapy – Providing Respectful and Professional Care for people Living with Disabilities
Are you looking for NDIS mental health support in Melbourne as part of your NDIS plan? Or are you a local area coordinator looking for mental health support for your clients?
Safe Place Therapy provides professional counselling for mental health under the National Disability Insurance Scheme. As a team of NDIS counsellors, we offer individual support to NDIS participants and those supporting them.
Why choose Safe Place Therapy?
We work with the whole person.
Often people living with a disability are experiencing many different issues in their life in addition to their disability, for example discrimination, access issues, isolation and ongoing mental health issues.
Our NDIS counselling team works with YOU in your current situation, walking through the issues you are experiencing and meeting you where you are at. Effective counselling needs to address the range of issues you are experiencing, which is what we do.
We are person centred.
We tailor our approach to your individual needs. We use a range of focused psychological strategies to build on your strengths, working to understand and address where gaps are happening personally and in the environment.
We are collaborative.
As our client, you come first. We strive to ensure you always have access to our service through face to face counselling, Telehealth or phone counselling. We also have a range of staff with different backgrounds and expertise to sit in your corner.
We are here for You.
The client comes first and we try our best to ensure the person has access to our service through face to face counselling, Telehealth or phone counselling and a range of different staff with different backgrounds and expertise to sit in your corner.
NDIS is Australia’s first national scheme
for people with disability.
It provides funding directly to individuals.
How to make a time with our team?
Please call our Admin team on 03 7049 4970 and talk through the specific needs for yourself, the person you are caring for or your client. This way we can understand what you need from counselling and also to match you up with a Counsellor that is best fit for your needs.
Making our space Safe for clients
At Safe Place Therapy we try our best to be as inclusive as possible.
We understand that the first few sessions can be scary, especially for people who have never asked for help before. You feeling safe and comfortable comes first. Here are some things we have thought about to make things less confronting on your first visit.
Safety comes first.
Having a client in a room with a Counsellor can be goal number one. There is no pressure to fix everything straight away and having a disability means that the work is part of a journey in recovery.
You don’t have to talk about everything in your first session.
You don’t have to open up straight away if you don’t feel comfortable. It is totally fine to talk about your normal daily life, your hobbies etc. and get to know your Counsellor.
Our Counselling rooms are designed to make the environment comfortable for you.
We are able to arrange the room to be comfortable for you (e.g. adjusting chairs so there is less eye contact), we have games and sensory tools available, and can offer breaks during a session. Our counsellors are open to any suggestions you have to make you feel safe in counselling sessions.
We are flexible.
Our approach can change based on your needs at that time. You can choose whether you would prefer counselling done face-to-face or Telehealth and can change this at any time. If you would like a phone chat over the phone with your counsellor before an appointment is made that is totally fine and understandable.
Before booking please let our team know what you may need or the needs of your client you are working with.
Whatever your situation, Safe Place Therapy can provide counsellors to assist you in moving forward with your life, in a safe, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.
